What to put on a handyman invoice

  • The job address and a short summary of each task
  • Hours worked, or a flat price per task
  • Materials you bought, ideally with the receipts kept on file
  • Any trip or disposal charge
  • Your business name and how to reach you
  • The client's name and address
  • A unique number and the date

How to use this template

  1. Enter your business details once. This browser remembers them for next time.
  2. Add the client, the date and the job details.
  3. List each item on its own line. Tick “Taxed” for the lines you charge tax on, and enter your tax rate.
  4. Choose “Download PDF or print”, then “Save as PDF” in the print window.
  5. For the next job, choose “New invoice”. It keeps your business details and moves to the next number.

Tips

  • Keep the store receipts for materials you bill. Clients sometimes ask, and they back up your records.
  • If a task grew beyond the estimate, say why on the invoice.
  • Number every document in order and never reuse a number. It makes your records easy to follow.
